Popular Fluid-Based Fog Machines

Rosco

Rosco manufactures a wide range of fluid-based fog machines, all of which are available for purchase, and many of which are available in Limelight's rental inventory.

Alpha 900 - The Alpha 900 is the most affordable Rosco fog machine. Weighing less than 12 lb. (5 kg), with a 1000 watt heater, the Alpha 900 is operated from a hand held remote attached to a 30 ft. (9 m) cord which has a simple ON/OFF switch. The machine can also be operated from an optional wireless remote control. The Alpha 900 has been tested for use in professional theatrical productions and is included under the Equipment-Based Guidelines of the Equity-League Pension and Health Trust Funds.

Delta 3000 - Using an electronics design known as Delta Technology™, the Delta 3000 makes fog and smoke a more versatile and creative component of a performance. A more robust 1500 watt heater element coupled with unique electronic thermostatic control makes unparalleled volumes of fog possible. The state-of-the-art electronics design allows designers to use fog and smoke the way they use light or sound: to have the effect start on cue at the correct level and end on cue by means of 3 control options.

The Digital DMX Remote is the most sophisticated of these devices using "real time" timers which can be set in exact one-second increments from one second to 10 minutes. The Analog DMX Remote offers volume control, DMX control and on/off sequencers. The interface is analog using hardy switches and knobs to operate the machine. The timed remote is designed for those situations where the fog machine will always require an operator, such as industrial applications. The Delta 3000 has been tested for use in professional theatrical productions and is included under the Equipment-Based Guidelines of the Equity-League Pension and Health Trust Funds.

Delta 6000 - Consuming more than nine liters of fog fluid per hour, the Delta 6000 fog machine was developed to service very large stages, theme parks and industrial applications.

The Delta 6000 uses a dual-path heat exchanger producing fog from two side-by-side nozzles. It uses the same basic electronics as the Delta 3000, including built-in DMX as standard equipment. The Delta 6000 is available in 1500 watt, 120 volts or 2300 watt, 240 volt configurations.

Delta Hazer - The Rosco Delta Hazer uses a water-based fluid, a 1000 watt heat exchanger and a high quality blower to create enough haze for any size venue. By turning just one knob, the fan and pump speed are varied for optimum output and, even at high speeds, the machine will run continuously.

Using Delta Technology™, the Delta Hazer features on-board DMX, low fluid sensor and auto timers. In addition , the Delta Hazer has a continuous self cleaning feature to insure long life.

Hazemaker - Using an on-board air compressor and a proprietary tank design, the Hazemaker has been calibrated to produce just the right level haze or texture in the air for focused beams of light to be seen even in large venues making the Rosco Hazemaker ideal for concert and moving light applications, as well as the more traditional theatrical productions.

Using the new Hazemaker fluid, a water and glycol mixture, the Hazemaker creates an effect similar to that of older "cracked oil" machines without the use of animal, vegetable or mineral oils eliminating concerns about residue on sensitive electronic equipment. The Hazemaker is incredibly efficient: using only one liter of fluid in 53 hours of operation.

Hazemaker 2 - The Hazemaker 2 creates the same effect as the popular Hazemaker, but does not have the on-board compressor. Instead, the Hazemaker 2 has an air fitting so that the user can utilize their own compressor from a distance, allowing for quieter operation. Also in a self contained custom designed road case, the Hazemaker 2 is smaller and more compact than its big brother, eliminating the need for casters. Hazemaker 2 uses the new proprietary Hazemaker Fluid.

PF-1000 Remote Head Fogger - The PF-1000 Remote Head Fogger is essentially a fog machine taken out of its box and reassembled to meet special design needs. It is designed for remote, precise applications where the use of a standard fog machine is not practical. The PF-1000 has been tested for use in professional theatrical productions and is included under the Equipment-Based Guidelines of the Equity-League Pension and Health Trust Funds.

Model 1700 - The Rosco Model 1700 fog machine delivers fog output equal to, or more than previous fog machines in this line, but with lower power consumption at 1190W. The Model 1700 is equipped with a 5-meter lead and fine control for volume as well as on-board timers. An optional DMX interface allows the Model 1700 to be operated from a lighting control board. The Model 1700 can also be daisy chained, allowing up to 4 machines to be operated from a single remote control. The Model 1700 can be operated with the Rosco Chiller Module or Rosco Coldflow for low-lying chilled fog.

Model 1750 - The Rosco Model 1750 fog machine is the successor to the Model 1700 (above) with some improvements. The machine comes in two versions: Standard and DMX. The Standard version offers fine volume control as well as on-board timers. The DMX version offers the additional ability to operate the machine from a lighting control board. With an improved heat exchanger design, the Model 1750 delivers over 40% more fog than the Model 1700 while still requiring only a standard AC outlet. Like the 1700, the 1750 can be daisy chained, allowing up to 4 machines to be operated from a single remote control. Also like the 1700, the 1750 can be operated with the Rosco Chiller Module or Rosco Coldflow for low-lying chilled fog.

Chiller Module - The Rosco Chiller Module, used with Rosco Stage and Studio Fluid and dry ice, allows you to produce low-lying fog with variable densities on demand. The density of the fog can be controlled with a fan via a knob on the remote control unit. When dry ice is not available, ordinary ice may be used.

Coldflow - The Rosco Coldflow converts liquid carbon dioxide (LCO2) to dry ice. The dry ice cools a uniquely designed aluminum extrusion that is capable of converting large volumes of fog into dense low lying fog. The unit can create a wide range of low lying fog effects. The Coldflow, which works with a wide range of fog machines, eliminates many of the problems associated with using commercial dry ice including finding a source, storing and handling. Liquid carbon dioxide is generally easy to find than dry ice. It is easy to handle and does not require any special storage. While 50 pounds of dry ice will produce a 15-minute effect in a traditional dry ice fog machine, a comparable tank of LCO2 will last for hours.

Le Maitre

Like Rosco, Le Maitre manufactures a wide range of fluid-based fog machines, all of which are available for purchase, and many of which are available in Limelight's rental inventory.
